Caption | Brooch in the shape of a horseshoe with a riding crop, Unite. The carrying of ‘lucky charms’ – as protective amulets against ill health and physical danger – is common in many cultures around the world. Horseshoes have long been considered lucky. This tin amulet and brooch with the words “Good Luck” engraved on to the horseshoe was reputedly worn by a soldier in the Middlesex regiment of the British army during First World War. Superstition.
