Haemodynamometer, London, England, 1895–1905. The degree of pressure of blood in an artery or vein can be measured using a haemodynamometer. It was invented by British physician George Oliver (1841–1915). It works by a thin rubber pad filled with glycerine and water compressing the pulse. Blood pressure was then indicated on the dial.
