A mayorial procession with Daniel O'Connell. Coloured lithograph by HB (John Doyle), 1836. Wearing a black outfit with a mace over his shoulder and leading the procession is Lord John Russell. Behind him carrying a sword is Lord Melbourne. Daniel O' Connell is dressed in the garb of the Mayor of Dublin. Taking up the rear are Lord Morpeth and Lord Mulgrave. This is a sketch in anticipation of the passing of the Bill of reform of Municipal Corporations in Ireland and it presents as one of the results that O'Connell would become Lord Mayor of Dublin.
