Caption | This document is receipt for payment made by Mr Edward Rouzee of the sum four (4) dollars and fifty (50) cents in full for the hire of an enslaved man owned by James Thomas for nine days to tread wheat by the estate of the late John Rouzee. The document is signed with an 'X' for James Thomas and witnessed by Richard Rouzee. The reverse reads "Thomas to Rouzee son / $4.50 / 16th Nov 1826."
