Caption | Leonard Cleuter was an adventurer and a mercenary who occasionally tried to make money from the firearms trade. He signed this brace of pistols, the pommels of which are carved in the form of Classical warrior heads crowned with laurel wreaths. When Cleuter was declared bankrupt as an arms dealer in 1664, he left Maastricht and borrowed money to start his own regiment. Origin: Maastricht. Date: c 1660 – c 1664.
