Caption | This spectacular dish is inspired by Japanese prints. It is built up of layers of different coloured glass. The top layer of white glass was removed around the image by immersing the dish in an acid bath; the image itself was protected by an acid-resistant material. This technique is called cameo glass. Date: c 1880. Object ID: BK-C-2000-3. |
