| Caption | After training as a landscape artist, Girolamo Muziano concentrated on studying the human body. Altarpieces with many figures provided a better income than landscapes. One of his first commissions in this genre was an altarpiece with Mary and Joseph resting on the flight into Egypt. This drawing is a preparatory study for one of the prophets in a lunette above that painting. Date: 1549 – 1555. Object ID: RP-T-1949-554(R). |
