Portrait of Jeanne-Elisabeth Sellon, Lady Tyrell
Active selection in cart:
Caption | Like Liotard himself, Jeanne-Elisabeth Sellon was born in Geneva to Huguenot parents, who had been forced to flee France in 1685. She married an English baronet, Sir Charles Tyrell, in 1726. This work is one of the more imposing of Liotard’s earlier portraits, with all the clarity and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of his best works. Date: c 1746. Object ID: SK-A-236. |
