Caption | Born in Amsterdam, Sustris spent most of his career in Italy. In Venice, he was a close associate of the leading painter Titian. In this work, Sustris used as a model one of Titian’s most celebrated paintings, the so-called Venus of Urbino, but he gave his figure an elegant, more mannered pose. Origin: Venice.
