The Australian Blondin. 4 portrait photographs, full-length, carte de visite size, of the "Australian Blondin", otherwise known as Henri L'estrange. Shows him in performance attire, in various poses on tightrope. He was a tightrope performer who adopted the name "Blondin" after an earlier French performer. He successfully completed a Middle Harbour tighrope crossing in Sydney, 1877 and in 1879 began ballooning experiments in Melbourne. He was reported to have been born in Fitzroy but little is known of his life. Author/Creator: Willetts, George, photographer. Date: 1876. ID: IE182436.
