A Doric column, with a figure standing upon a pavilion. It is build of blocks and consists of archways with obliquely disposed projecting pilasters at the corners and statues upon them. Water pours from the mouths of animals, grouped in pairs, and flanking a central motif. The left side of the pavilion with the lower part of the column and the column are shown in detail at left. Upper right corner: two stream gods leaning upon a vessel from which water pours. A variation of the design. The pilasters and statues are omitted; the stream gods are disposed in front of the corners. Statues upon pedestals are suggested near the rim of the basin. Bottom right, a shell is fastened to an oblique side of the pavilion. The water pours from the mouths of two dolphins the mouths of which are held open by mermen. Made in: Rome, Italy. Date: 1800s.
