The helmeted, but naked figure of the warrior king of Sparta, Leonidas, holding a shield and carrying a sword in the center of a rocky pass with a field of warriors. On the left a man engraves on a rock with his sword the inscription which will recall for posterity the deed of the Spartan. At the left is the blind warrior Eurites. On scroll at bottom center: "LEONIDAS AUX THERMOPYLES, D'apres David." In sepia on natural. Made in: France. Date: 1800s. Record ID: chndm_1995-50-363.
