Caption | Small handmade booklet used by the author for practicing penmanship exercises. Multiple sheets are inscribed with the author's name in cursive script followed by the date 1800. Book cover is made from a sidewall fragment dating to ca. 1790s. The cover design consists of two horizontal registers of running leaves and small floral motifs separated by a band of small, rectangular-shaped forest-green checkerboards. The upper register of leaves is highlighted with white and black flowers. The lower register is composed entirely of small black and white flowers on vines. Made in: Europe and USA. Date: 1800s.
