Caption | On circular plinth with four feet (three visible), a sphere, top section of which serves as cover and topped by Cupid in a chariot drawn by a snail. Supported by curved poles with lion feet and lion heads with wings. Spout starts from a dolphin's head which has a human face and which tops two bodies upon which two girls sit. Underneath are three blacksmiths around an anvil which would have been intended as a receptacle for spirits. Made in: Augsburg, Germany. Date: 1820s. Record ID: chndm_1911-28-319. |
