Active selection in cart:
Caption | In the scheme of an altar retable. Venus accompanied by Cupid and calling for the weapons of Aeneas at the forge of Vulcan is represented in the main panel. Allusions to a classical warrior abound in the decoration. The central part of the dado is shaped like a tub seen in perspective. Its main decoration consists of a relief of a warrior resting among his weapons, and served by putti. The decorations are in general corresponding but not symmetrical at left and at right. Made in: France. Date: 1700s. Record ID: chndm_1911-28-285. |
