Caption | This tetsu (iron) tsuba is naga maru gata (round) in shape. It has sukashi marubori (round openwork carving) in the form of a dragon and jewel. Surrounding the central nakago-ana, the opening through which the sword passes, is the seppadai, a flat oval area that is migaki (burnished). Made in: Japan. Date: 1700s.
