With Lion on Tambour-Style Opening

Rectangular, with left side curved to accomodate tambour-style opening, comprised of light and dark strips of wood adhered to canvas, which wrap around to underside of box. Cover features sliding ivory panel with central reserve of carved, reclining lion holding a shield with symbol of crusifix. Lion appears to have a stake in his back. Central reserve surrounded by intricately carved and pierced foliage. Interior lined in brass. Underside of sliding ivory panel scored with cross hatch marks for striker. Made in: Europe.
