Psyche Rescued by Naiads, 1750. Attributed to Jean-Baptiste-Marie Pierre. Previously attributed to Hugues Taraval. Psyche sits at the centre and is supported by four female naiads. A male naiad can be seen behind the group, on the far right. From the collection of Madame de Pompadour, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, recorded in the inventory of l’hôtel de Pompadour, Paris, 26 July 1764.
