The Recording Angel

Active selection in cart:
The Recording Angel, 1824-27. William Blake. The scene refers to Dante's 'Divine Comedy: Paradiso 19' and the Recording Angel who in the guise of the 'angel' of convention and tradition upholds Moral Law. For Blake however, salvation came through active love and forgiveness rather than Dante's allusions to the passive observance of Moral Law.
