Active selection in cart:
The English lion dismember'd, or the voice of the public for an enquiry into the loss of Minorca--with Adl. B[yn]g’s plea before his examiners. A lion with one of his paws (labeled Minorca) cut off. Frenchmen consult to one side about cutting more off while the Lord Mayor of London and other English politicians consult on the other. Minorca had been lost in June 1756, ostensibly because of Admiral Byng's lack of valor. This caused a political flap that ultimately led to Byng being court-martialed and shot. Date: ca. 1756.
