The heroic death of Vanya Vinogradov, 1947. Vanya Vinogradov was a Russian youth from Demyankovo, Smolensk oblast, shot by the occupying Nazis during World War II for wearing a red scarf of the Soviet Pioneer Movement. His mother was also shot as she tried to protect him. The image was produced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Pioneers in the USSR.
