Caption | Escape from Russia of Father Georgy Gapon, evading the authorities by disguising himself as a drunk. Gapon was a Russian Orthodox priest and popular working class leader. He led the march on the Winter Palace in St Petersburg to hand a petition to the Tsar that culminated in the Bloody Sunday massacre when soldiers fired on the demonstrators on 22 January 1905.
