Caption | Marguerite Steinheil in her prison cell. Marguerite Steinheil was the wife of the French painter Adolphe Steinheil. She was found tied up and gagged in bed in their home in Paris, with her husband and mother murdered. The police suspected Marguerite of the murders and she was arrested and detained in St Lazare Prison, but was acquitted after a sensational trial in November 1909. Madame Steinheil dans sa prison.
