Royal Observatory

Active selection:
Royal Observatory. This building stands on a hill overlooking Greenwich Park. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren for King Charles II. Astronomers set up their telescopes in the large room with the long windows. In the 20th century, when London skies became too polluted for astronomical observations, they moved to the Greenwich Royal Observatory at Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex and then to Cambridge. Today, the Greenwich building is a museum.
