Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace. This building was built in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition in 1851. It was made of cast iron and glass. It was later moved to Sydenham where, in 1937, it burned down. The builder of the palace was Joseph Paxton, who had been a gardener and developed this style of building for greenhouses.
