Match Stick

Active selection:
The first friction matches was sold in 1827. They were wooden sticks with chemically treated heads that were ignited by being drawn through sandpaper. They were called Lucifers. Lucifers were made of a mixture of antimony sulfide and potassium chlorate. They gave off a terrible smell and persons with delicate lungs were advised not to use them.
