V2 Rockets

September 8, 1944 saw the first modern rocket V 2 used during the Second World War fall on London. It was fired all the way from Germany. The V. 2 traveled at supersonic speed, it could not be heard before it arrived – unlike the V 1 bomb used earlier, which had been nicknamed Buzz Bomb and Doodlebug.
