Nitrous Oxide

Active selection:
Nitrous Oxide is called "laughing gas" because inhaling it can create a feeling of euphoria. It can also cause dizziness and loss of motor control. Nitrous Oxide was used as an anaesthetic in the 19th century, but has been replaced by other anaesthetics. Some dentists use a mixture of Nitrous Oxide and oxygen for pain relief. Originally from Treasure no. 296 (14 September 1968).
