Caption | In September 1947, John Cobb, a London fur broker, set a new world's land speed record of 394.19 m.p.h. in his streamlined Railton Special at Bonneville Salt Flats, America. Cobb's record was broken by Donald Campbell in 1964 with a speed of 403.1 m.p.h. and later by Craig Breedlove in a jet-powered car with 600.1 m.p.h. The current record holder is ThrustSSC, which has achieved 763 m.p.h. breaking the sound barrier. |
