German surrender

Active selection:
Signatures that meant Surrender. At 6.20 pm on the evening of 4th May, the instrument of surrender was signed in Montgomery's tent. As Friedeburg affixed his signature to the document which sealed the fate of the Third Reich, Montgomery relaxed in relief. A further surrender document signed on 7th May, covering all the German forces finally restored peace to a shattered and exhausted Europe. Original artwork for the illustration on p2 of L&L issue no. 856 (10 June 1978).
