Caption | An adaptation of Smith by Leon Garfield, a novel set in the underworld of 18th century London. Smith, a young boy, is accused of murder and taken to Newgate. The gaoler was surprised when he discovered who the clean-faced liveried boy was. "Not old Smith?" he said.
