Caption | The Fire that came from Heaven. 1 Kings, Chapter 18. Elijah challenged the worshippers of Baal to a contest in which the power of their God was tested, along with the Lord's. Despite their cries no sign is shown on their altar, but on Elijah's altar, which has even been drenched and surrounded by a ditch full of water, the Lord's fire descends, burning the sacrifice, wood and stones, and drying up the ditch. Original artwork for the illustration on p11 of Treasure no.14. |
