Roman Camp

Roman Camp.  A camp was built within a square wooden palisade protected by turrets with gates covered on each side by a high rostrum.  Outside the palisade the camp was further protected by a ditch, serving a a dry moat.  Original artwork for illustration on pp2-3 of Look and Learn issue no 617 (10 November 1973).
