Alexander Mackenzie

Active selection in cart:
Alexander Mackenzie would endure anything to pave the way for trade, but risk nothing for the sake of glory. Yet he discovered and mapped huge areas of Canada without harming an Indian and opened it up for fur traders, gold prospectors and, in the modern times, the men who drill for oil. Our picture shows Mackenzie and his party setting off to find a route due West to the Pacific Ocean, crossing rocks and rapids. Original artwork for illustration on p19 of Look and Learn issue no 532 (25 March 1972).
