Caption | Boxers. Boxers believed that European bullets could not harm them, and that if they did it was a sign of a lack of faith. This gave them incredible strength as soldiers. Top left shows the German ambassador in Peking attacking a Boxer with a stick. Below left is a portrait of the Empress Dowager Tza-hai, who was the last great ruler of Manchu China.
