Rations

Caption | Rations. On the right is the weekly ration of food on which each Briton went to war. Foreign food like bananas vanished from the shops. Children grew up without having seen them and, when, offered a banana by a sailor home from overseas, often refused them because they did not know what they were (left). Original artwork for illustration on p34 of Look and Learn issue no 714 (20 September 1975). |
