Caption | Ancient Roman glass factory. Rome's glass factories were famous for the production of superb vessels which they created with great skill. The mixed glass of different colours gave an effect of veined stone. This can be seen in this wine jug (inset) which was made in a mould and then polished. Original artwork for illustration on p15 of Look and Learn issue no 1011 (25 July 1981). |
