Richard Chancellor, Russian explorer
|Caption||Richard Chancellor, Russian explorer. So severe was the Arctic winter that, after reaching the Russian coast, the crew of one of the ships were overcome by the cold and perished to a man. The lower picture shows how, with their boat overturned by a storm, Chancellor was thrown into the tempestuous sea.
