The Last Journey Left in the World. Half-way through the 20th century one final challenge presented itself to explorers on Earth – the conquest of Antarctica by land. Led by Dr Vivian Fuchs, the explorers had to probe ahead every few centimetres before the tracked vehicles could make their way across the frozen wasteland. Original artwork for illustration on pp8–9 of Look and Learn issue no 875 (21 October 1978).
