Saint Mary Magdalene is one of the greatest women in the Bible and often regarded as the Apostle to the Apostles.

Saint Mary Magdalene

Her importance in the early church has not always been universally acknowledged, and her character has often been defamed, especially in periods of high moral fanaticism. Some have questioned the historical accuracy of her supposedly being a reformed prostitute, and  try to underplay the incident where she washes Christ’s feet with her tears and dries them with her hair. Whatever the significance of her previous life, it is clear that Jesus regarded her with the deepest affection, perhaps  more than any other of his disciples. She was present at the Crucifixion and His burial, and was the first person to see Him after His Resurrection. This alone lends her life immense significance as well as a touching and incomparable purpose.
