Amelia Earhart’s plane, the Electra, flying over the Pacific Ocean

2 July marks the anniversary of the disappearance of aviatrix Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan. In 1937, the two were attempting to circumnavigate the globe when their plane – a Lockheed Model 10 Electra – disappeared near Howland Island whilst flying over the Pacific Ocean. Their plane has never been recovered.
