Caption | Mademoiselle de Sombreuil (1774–1823). The daughter of the Governor of Les Invalides, she was imprisoned with him in 1792 during the French Revolution. During the September Massacres she prevented the mob from killing her father and obtained his freedom by drinking a glass of blood. French educational card, late 19th or early 20th century. |
