Mackaw
Active selection in cart:
Caption | This bird is a scarlet mackaw. It can be trained to talk, but it usually just makes a noisy screech. Mackaws lay almost round eggs and nest in holes in cliffs or hollow trees. They have been known to live for 90 years, but 50 is the average. This is the most brilliantly coloured of all the parrot family. It comes from South America and has a very strong beak that easily cracks a Brazil-nut. There are four kinds: the scarlet, green, blue and military. |
