Henry Morgan

Active selection in cart:
Henry Morgan. The greatest of all the buccaneers was Henry Morgan, the famous, swash-buckling Welshman who terrorised the Spanish Main for five years. Morgan (1635–88) was kidnapped as a lad in Bristol and sold as a slave in the West Indies, escaping to join a pirate crew. In 1666 he was elected "admiral" of all the bucaneers in the Caribbean Sea, leading countless attacks against Spanish shipping from his Jamaican base. Original artwork for illustration on p28 of Look and Learn issue no 164 (6 March 1965).
