Posted in America, Cars, Communism, Famous crimes, Famous news stories, Historical articles, History, Mystery, News, Politics, Weapons on Friday, 20 November 2015

This is a chilling picture of Lee Harvey Oswald, John F Kennedy’s assassin, lying in wait on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository for the Presidential motorcade. The notorious sniper is nursing a Carcano rifle, and it is the unavoidable prominence of the murder weapon which gives this image such power.

Posted in Exploration, Famous news stories, Historical articles, History, Mystery, Nature on Thursday, 19 November 2015

This convincingly realistic picture shows the redoubtable Colonel Percy Fawcett exploring the Mato Grosso with his son, in search of a fabled lost city he called “Z”. Two Brazilian Indian tribesmen observe him unobserved, and perhaps hold the clue to his sudden disappearance in 1925, along with his son’s, in a South American mystery worthy of Rider Haggard and Conan Doyle, both good friends of this larger-than-life English eccentric.
