The destruction of the Hindenburg ended the era of the Zeppelin

2 July is the anniversary of the flight of the first Zeppelin, which took place over Lake Constance in 1900. LZ1 flew for 18 minutes before being forced to land. Famous airships created by Count von Zeppelin included the Graf Zeppelin and the Hindenburg, which operated across the Atlantic for a decade between 1928-37. The destruction of the Hindenburg in 1937 ended the era of commercial Zeppelin flights.
