War and peace
Posted in Art competition, History on Saturday, 9 August 2008
The theme for August’s Look and Learn kids’ art competition is “War and peace”, and the closing date is Monday 8 September. Visit our children’s art gallery to see some powerful interpretations of this theme.
The picture here is of Neville Chamberlain holding a famous piece of paper: it contains the resolution to commit to peaceful methods that he had just signed with Adolf Hitler, in September 1938, declaring, “I believe it is peace for our time.” However Chamberlain had misjudged his opposite number and was forced to declare war against Germany a year later.
