Rules of entry into the art gallery and art competitions

1. The Look and Learn art gallery and competitions are open to all children anywhere in the world, aged 18 or under.
2. All children entering their art must first be enrolled on-line.
3. Children may be enrolled by a parent, legal guardian, or qualified teacher.
4. Children aged 12 or over may enrol themselves.
5. The names of children (but no other personal information) will be disclosed on the Look and Learn website in order to allow children to find their work.
6. Look and Learn is committed to a strict privacy policy. Enrolling parents/guardians and teachers must not compromise children’s privacy by sharing log-in details with anyone else; and, if they suspect anyone else may know their log-in details, should change their passwords or inform Look and Learn as soon as practicable.
7. All artwork submitted to Look and Learn must be the original idea and creation of the credited entrant. Copying of any pre-existing image is not acceptable, whether visually or by tracing. Colouring in an outline printed or drawn by someone else is also not acceptable.
8. Adults may give encouragement, but must not have a hands-on role in creating the artwork.
9. Entries are grouped by age (0-7, 8-11, and 12-18) based on the child's age 30 days before an entry is received by Look and Learn.
10. Look and Learn may reject entries that it considers inappropriate for any reason.
11. Look and Learn reserves the right to crop and/or colour-correct images to ensure consistency of appearance throughout the gallery.
12. Art gallery entries may be submitted online only.
13. All artwork submitted to the art gallery or competitions becomes the copyright of Look and Learn.
14. Entrants may submit up to 1,000 pictures for inclusion in their personal art gallery – in addition to competition entries.
15. Look and Learn may, at its discretion, introduce fees for certain entries.
16. Look and Learn’s overall terms and conditions and privacy policy apply to the rules and operation of the art gallery and monthly art competitions.

Additional rules for competition entries

1. Competition entries must relate in an obvious way to the specified monthly theme.
2. Each entrant may submit just one picture in each monthly competition.
3. Online entries may be submitted up until midnight (GMT) on the advertised closing date.
4. Postal entries must be received by 5pm (GMT) on the advertised closing date.
5. Look and Learn cannot accept responsibility for late or lost entries due to the Post Office, other couriers or the Internet. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
6. The competitions will be judged by the Publisher and Editorial Director of Look and Learn, or by others as Look and Learn may, at its discretion, decide. The judges’ decision will be final and neither they nor Look and Learn will enter into any correspondence.
7. Look and Learn may require a winner to submit a copy of his/her birth certificate or other proof of age.
8. Winners will be contacted via those who have enrolled them, by email.
9. Winners’ names (but no other identifying data) will be announced on the Look and Learn website.
10. Directors, employees, and associates of Look and Learn, and their children are not eligible for prizes, but may enter competitions and submit their pictures for inclusion in the art gallery.
11. Prize money will be sent by UK cheque or Western Union, according to each winner's preference.

Additional rules for competition entries sent by post

1. Only entries to the monthly themed competitions may be submitted by post.
2. Artwork made using charcoal, pastels, collage, or anything else that rubs or lifts off easily, must be “fixed” before being posted.
3. The size must be no more than 19" (483mm) along the longest length.
4. Artwork must not be framed, matted, laminated, or folded.
5. Look and Learn cannot return postal entries. Such entries will become the property of Look and Learn.
6. Look and Learn accepts no liability for artwork lost in transit.
